1961 327 4 Speed Roadster
£75,000
Red with black vinyl interior. This is my personal car and is great fun to drive but I hardly use it due to lack of time.
Modified from stock with the addition of rack and pinion steering, independent front suspension with coilover shocks, front powered disc brakes, 9" rear axle, stainless steel exhaust system, electronic ignition and more more more.....
The original 283 was replaced long ago with the much much nicer 327 small block, this is without doubt the best small block ever made, period, this car has been upgraded with MSD electronic ignition, Edelbrock performer camshaft, alternator upgrade with billet pulleys, Holley 4 barrel carb with electric fuel pump and aluminium intake, aluminium LT1 valve covers, ceramic coated headers and a stainless steel exhaust, the sound of this car is massive, and its a quick machine too.
The clutch is nice and light, the 4 speed transmission shifts nicely and without drama, the steering feels good with none of the all too common Corvette wander and vagueness, and the brakes bring you up nice and sharp. Cooling is taken care of by an aluminium radiator, and the car stays nice and cool in traffic. It starts first time every time and just does what it should with no headaches, this car is a blast baby!
Front and rear suspension has been modified with a new front subframe made by Wisbech Engineering incorporating coilover front shocks with adjustable ride height. this is not like the off the shelf modifications that reduce the track and make these cars look too narrow at the front like a gasser, this maintains the stock track and is lowered, the 9" rear is superb on this car with a good cruising speed, peppy acceleration, and gives the car a really horny stance. Everything underneath is superb.
The interior is in real good order, the original steering column has been replaced with an Ididit column which also incorporates hazard flashers, the car also has sun visors fitted, you don't realise how much you use both these items until you don't have them... The car has been completely rewired, and all gauges work as they should. The radio is an aftermarket Wonderbar copy that also has an iPod feed. Since these pictures were taken I have replaced the radio speaker grille with the correct one.
The red paintwork is nice and bright with only a few very minor blemishes here and there, but nothing to get in a twist over, chrome is excellent, glass is nice, rubber trim in good shape. the wheels, tyres, and trims were replaced in 2018 with new whitewall radials, factory steel wheels and new hubcaps and spinners, these are all unmarked.
The factory hardtop is in nice shape, there is a soft top as well which is probably 10-15 years old but has been stored folded pretty much all that time.
I can show you the car on our ramp, no hidden surprises, thats how it should be.
I can take another C1, C2 or C3 Corvette in part exchange. I can arrange transport anywhere in the UK. I am not open to offers however, I am not in a rush to sell and it's no great hardship having this lovely red hot 61 to tool around in....
